Very nice park. We arrived and were greeted by some young men in the park administration shack who were both knowledgeable and friendly. The campsite in North Higgins West (#87) was very clean, open, and cared for. It was no problem getting the camper backed in and setup and almost immediately were ready to go exploring. Bathrooms and showers were clean and only one time out of the week did I see a little sand from someones shoes in the shower area. The custodians were unseen but efficient and on top of the issues. The trail to the beach was maintained well and the beach and boat launch were well laid out and administered. I walked several times a day to the dumpsters with my dog's leavings and they were well laid out and area was free of trash and junk. Overall 5 stars - little distractions but nothing that would keep me from recommending this campground without reservations.
Pulled over at the lake for lunch on our way home from up North. Beautiful, peaceful, quiet and clean. Will definitely plan a visit.
I've been going to this State Park for 25 years. I basically lived there for a couple summers. Higgins Lake is beautiful and the park offers a ton of amenities. I love going there.
Always loved Higgins lake! Clean..never had an issue.. North east higgins lake is a little more rustic...thus the whole camping thing. Be aware of swimmer itch
Stopped by this park for lunch on the drive home back down state. Beautiful!!! Can't wait to plan a weekend getaway back on this lake.
